Flash intros

No personal site in 2001 was complete without an intro animation you had to sit through (or frantically hunt for a “skip” link to escape). Mine were built in Macromedia Flash 5, and three of them survived in the archive. They haven’t run in a browser in twenty years — Flash itself died in 2020 — but Ruffle, an open-source Flash emulator compiled to WebAssembly, brings them back. They are playing live below.

The main intro

The big one — a 550×400 animated splash, the “remixed” Superterran logo treatment that the site was named after.

The logo bumper

A shorter looping logo animation (this is the one that still plays on the restored Tripod site itself).

The navigation

Not an intro exactly, but built the same way: a tall, narrow Flash navigation menu — rollover buttons and all — that ran down the side of the page. This is peak “why is my website’s menu a Flash movie” energy, and I would not have had it any other way.
